Bio

Charlie Day is an actor, writer, director, and producer best known for his role as Charlie Kelly in the live-action television sitcom "It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia", as well as his film roles as Dr. Newton Geiszler in Pacific Rim (2013) and as Dale Arbus in Horrible Bosses (2011). As a voice actor, he is best known for his roles as Luigi in the Super Mario Bros. Movie (2023) and as Benny in The Lego Movie (2014).

In 2006, he married actress Mary Elizabeth Ellis, who, in addition to playing The Waitress on "It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia", is also known for her roles as Momma Anita in Licorice Pizza (2021) and Emily in the Netflix comedy series "A Man on the Inside". Their son was born in 2011.

• Though he was born in New York City, he spent most of his childhood in Middletown, Rhode Island.
• He has an older sister.
• He graduated in 1998 from Merrimack College with a Bachelors in Art History, and recieved an honorary PhD in 2014.
• Charlie Day and Jimmi Simpson used to be roommates in New York City, where they shot hundreds of comedy sketches and short films. Some of these short films would later inspire "It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia".
• When asked if he wears eyeliner, he said he doesn't wear it, but that he was born with dark lines around his eyes, and he was teased about it as a child.
• Charlie Day played baseball and hockey in high school.
• He can play the trombone, piano, guitar, and harmonica.
• When asked, Charlie has stated his favorite curse is "go fuck yourself".
